7 in 10 students who graduated from college in the U.S. had student loan debt.
According to an analysis of government data by Mark Kantrowitz, publisher at Edvisors, the average class of 2015 graduate with student-loan debt will have to pay back a little more than $35,051.
The standard repayment plan for federal student loans puts borrowers on a 10-year track to pay off their debt, but research has shown the average bachelor's degree holder takes 21 years to pay off his or her loans.
Donors will know exactly where their money is going, and how it's being used. We facilitate money directly from campaigns to the university in the form of a third-party scholarship.
PeduL will have organization and university pages to streamline the giving process for appreciative alumnus and participants. For example, say University of Michigan has a page, individuals can donate to this page and after a certain amount of time, those funds are then allocated out to campaigns who have shown a proof of attendance to that school.
Students can earn points for every $1 they raise towards their campaigns, by donating to other students' campaigns, and by engaging on social media. These points can be used to redeem prizes that will prepare them for success in and out of the classroom.
This is a feature designed to give businesses a place to showcase how much they care about their community, in exchange for social media marketing. We have split our company sponsorship program into 3 tiers. Eligible campaigns will be sponsored by companies based on the students' academic performance. The better the academic performance the more engaging the sponsorship.
The platform started behind the question, “Dude why is college so expensive?” In that instance, PeduL became a creation made by the very students who would use it.
This was the month that changed everything. We brought together a team of dedicated and passionate students to handle the issue that affects way too many of us.
We are preparing for the first group of students to pioneer the service. By partnering with local and national businesses we are ensuring a seamless experience, creating a foundation that will be best not only for our users, but for PeduL as well.
We will always look for ways to innovate and make our user experience as beneficial as possible. We don’t believe in the concept “think outside the box”. We have eliminated the box from our concept and chosen to think for ourselves.
PeduL is a higher education crowdfunding platform. We are dedicated to alleviating the burdens of higher education and shifting the paradigm on college funding.
Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, often via the internet.
Pronounced 'Petal', we spell it like that for a couple of reasons. Here at PeduL, we believe that education should be at the center of everything we do. In addition to that, we believe that education is a major bridge between 'P' and 'L', purpose and life, and we want as many people to have access to that bridge as possible. As we often say, we want beautiful opportunities to grow with you, kind of like a flower petal. Hence our green plant-based theme.
A college degree is the new high school diploma. The problem is, as the necessity of a college degree rises, so do the costs, barring more and more people from pursuing higher education. We are here to deal with that.
We facilitate money directly from campaigns to universities in the form of a third-party scholarship, host organizations pages, and we have a really cool reward system that gives everyone a chance to have really cool stuff.
